EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED.

EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED.

EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED.

SOUL-LIFT DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH DR D.M. TIKILI.

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 14 2021.

TOPIC: EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED.

DEVOTIONAL READING: ACTS 12

KEY VERSE: And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate. (Acts 12:14).

BIBLE CHARACTER: RHODA

We know nothing about Rhoda except for her delightful response to an unexpected event. She was among a group of Christians who gathered to pray for the release of Peter. Herod has already put to death the apostle James and promised to do the same to Peter. Christians felt helpless to do anything except to pray, which they did persistently, even though hope of a miracle seemed slight.

Meanwhile, Peter slept soundly in his chains. An angel appeared in his cell, released the chains, and led the sleepy apostle out of prison. Once outside, Peter finally came fully awake and hurried to the home where the Christians were keeping the prayerful vigil.

When Peter rattled the outside gate, a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer. Hearing Peter’s voice, she got so excited she forgot to open the door but instead ran inside to tell everyone.

Rhoda’s oversight underscores how many times we only half expect GOD to answer our pleas. In fact, immediate answers usually astound us. But to those who persist in specific prayer, such answers are not surprising.

What discoveries have you made about prayer? When you pray, do you expect GOD to answer or to ignore your concerns? If you decide today that prayer will become a regular part of your life, start expecting the unexpected!

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Pray Without Ceasing.

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:

  1. O God, baptize me with the spirit and fire of prayer in Jesus Name.
  2. I release myself from the spirit of prayerless in Jesus Name.
  3. Every enemy of my prayer life , scatter by fire in Jesus Name.
  4. I receive the peace of God, that is above all understanding in Jesus Name. Amen!
