SOUL-LIFT DAILY DEVOTIONAL WITH PASTOR D. M. TIKILI
Date: Sunday, May 21 2023.
Topic: Respecting Parents.
Devotional Reading:
I Kings. 2:13-19
Key Verse:
“ Bethsheba therefore went unto king Solomon, to speak unto him for Adonija. And the king rose up to meet her, and bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand.” ( I Kings. 2:19).
Bible Character: Solomon
When Bathsheba entered Solomon’s throne room, he not only stood up, he bowed down. This was an incredible display of respect.
A ruler of Solomon’s stature held the power of life and death over his subjects, including his family members.
In some lands even entering the king’s presence improperly could result in the death penalty, as shown in the books of Esther and Nehemiah.
Parents deserve the honor of their children, even when children have reached adulthood.
Respect is due because at the very least, they will have introduced their children to the Lord and given them a living example of how to follow God.
Respect can be shown for parents by giving them places of honor, not only in the home but in the heart as well.
Thought For The Day. Honor Your Parents At All Times But More Importantly In Your Heart.
