1 Chronicles 1:28-32
Key Verse: “ Now the sons of Keturah, Abraham’s concubine: she bare Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah…”(1 Chronicles 1:32).
Bible Character: Abraham
Abraham, Caleb, David, and many other men of God had more than one wife.
Not because it was God’s ideal, but because it was considered acceptable in their culture.
But our standards of sexuality, whether for marriage, childbearing, or faithfulness cannot come from our culture.
God clearly intended there to be one husband for one wife, United as one flesh ( See Gen. 2:24).
Though many couples consider it acceptable to live together before getting married, to use abortion as birth control, and to divorce a spouse if one “ falls out of love,” such standards do not come from God.
